Atlanta Braves Final Wild Card Standings (2024)

The 2024 Wild Card chase was a memorable one, even if it ended on a curious tone. The Atlanta Braves and NY Mets had to play an extra two games on the day after the regular season ended. The Diamondbacks, who were also tied with the Mets and Braves, had to sit and watch what appeared to be a choreographed agreement to split the series. The Braves held the tiebreaker over the Diamondbacks and the Mets and therefore finished second in the WC standings and flew to San Diego for a series with the Padres.

Final 2017 NL Standings

The 2017 season for the Atlanta Braves was one of both reflection and anticipation, as the team continued its rebuilding journey while keeping an eye on a promising future. Ending with a 72-90 record, the Braves finished third in the NL East, far behind the division-leading Washington Nationals. Despite the standings, there were plenty of silver linings for the Braves and their fans to hold onto.

Freddie Freeman was once again the heart and soul of the Braves' offense, providing consistent production and leadership. His impact was undeniable, even as the team faced its fair share of struggles. The season also marked the emergence of young talents who hinted at a brighter future. Much heralded shortstop prospects Dansby Swanson and Ozzie Albies (who moved to second base) began to showcase their potential, giving fans a glimpse of what could be a formidable infield duo for years to come. Meanwhile, on the mound, young pitchers like Sean Newcomb showed flashes of brilliance, indicating that the team's pitching future might be in good hands.

Final 2016 NL East Standings

Well, the Nationals finally got the rewards of a disastrous decade resulting in a myriad of top draft picks.

The 2016 National League East unfolded as a tale of dominance by the Washington Nationals, who captured the division with a commanding 95-67 record. Powered by a relentless rotation led by Max Scherzer and a lineup anchored by Bryce Harper and Daniel Murphy, the Nationals controlled the division from start to finish. The New York Mets, plagued by injuries yet bolstered by their pitching depth, fought their way to a respectable 87-75 finish, enough for a Wild Card spot but never truly threatening Washington's supremacy.

The Miami Marlins, despite fleeting moments of brilliance, including an All-Star season from José Fernández and a resurgent Ichiro Suzuki, couldn’t muster the consistency needed to keep pace, finishing 16 games back. For the Phillies and Braves, 2016 was a year of rebuilding and growing pains, both teams languishing at the bottom of the standings, but laying groundwork for the future with promising young talent.

Final 2015 NL East Standings

Looking Back at 2015: Well the season was a tough one for the Atlanta Braves, who finished fourth in the NL East with a 67–95 record. It was a year of transition and rebuilding, as the front office made it clear that their focus had shifted toward developing young talent and reloading for the future. Several key players were traded before and during the season, including fan favorites like Craig Kimbrel and Jason Heyward. These moves signaled a long-term plan rather than immediate contention, and the team’s performance reflected that shift.

Despite the struggles, there were a few bright spots. Rookie pitcher Matt Wisler showed flashes of potential after being acquired from San Diego, and veteran Nick Markakis provided leadership on and off the field. Freddie Freeman continued to be the cornerstone of the lineup when healthy, though injuries limited his impact. The Braves struggled particularly in the second half, at one point going 12–39 over a brutal stretch. While fans had to endure a difficult year, there was a sense that better days were ahead with a farm system on the rise and the new SunTrust Park (now Truist Park) on the horizon.
